Orlando Mediation Lawyer
Mediation is a process used to resolve disputes either before or after a lawsuit is filed. A neutral third party, usually an attorney experienced in the area or a retired judge, serves as a mediator to help the parties resolve their dispute without the need for a court to determine their issues. If the mediation is successful, then a mediated settlement agreement is executed by the parties. It is possible to resolve some issues at mediation and not others. In that event, the parties can enter into a partial mediation agreement, narrowing the issues that a court must determine. In most counties, attending mediation is a pre-requisite to scheduling any hearing before the court. The Donna Hung Law Group is trained and skilled in guiding you through the mediation process. We believe mediation can be a viable option for many parties because:
- It saves time and money.
- It puts the parties in control of their situation and removes some of the uncertainties.
- It is more cordial and facilitates a “win-win” approach among all participating parties.
- It is a great way for pro se parties with limited funds to obtain a quick and fair resolution of their case.
As well as being an experienced Orlando mediation lawyer, Donna C. Hung, Esq. is a State of Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator. When hired as a mediator, Ms. Hung must put away her “lawyer hat” and step in as a neutral professional working to help two parties (and their attorneys if applicable) find resolution and reach a settlement. As a mediator, Ms. Hung works hard to limit the positional and intractable bargaining behaviors that typically prevent settlement. Instead, Ms. Hung works with parties and their lawyers (if applicable) to have the often difficult face-to-face conversations necessary to reach a creative resolution while in a safe, comfortable, non-threatening and effective mediation environment. Ms. Hung explores and develops creative and workable solutions and is committed to providing parties and their attorneys the necessary time and space needed to ensure that all aspects of their Agreement are fully understood before signing. Ms. Hung can be hired as a neutral mediator in your case.
Our fee for family law mediation services is set at a sliding scale for the parties’ financial convenience because Ms. Hung truly loves to mediate and believes that mediation is best for families.

What types of family law cases can be resolved through mediation?
Mediation can be used to resolve a wide range of family law disputes, including divorce, child custody, timesharing, alimony, and property division. It is particularly useful for couples who want to maintain control over their decisions rather than leaving them up to a judge. Mediation can also help co-parents create workable parenting plans that prioritize the best interests of their children.
Is mediation required before going to court in Florida family law cases?
Yes, in most Florida counties, mediation is required before a court hearing can be scheduled. The goal is to encourage parties to resolve their disputes amicably, saving time and court costs. If mediation does not result in a full agreement, unresolved issues can still be brought before a judge for a final decision.
What happens if we cannot reach an agreement in mediation?
If mediation does not result in a full resolution, the parties can sign a partial agreement for the issues they have settled and take the remaining disputes to court. In some cases, additional mediation sessions may be scheduled to continue negotiations. If no agreement is reached, the case will proceed through litigation, and a judge will make the final decisions on unresolved matters.
