View More FAQ Videos

Transcript

The term child custody is no longer used in Florida. Instead, Florida uses the terms parental responsibility and time-sharing. A majority of cases fall under shared parental responsibility. That is when all major decisions are jointly made by both parents. A minority of cases fall under sole parental responsibility. That is when one parent makes all major decisions. Time-sharing refers to the schedule that each parent will exercise with the child or children. The time-sharing schedule may include regular time-sharing, summertime sharing and holiday time sharing.
